The introduction of the WD My Net dual band routers not only marks the debut of the home networking products, but also the FasTrack technology from the company. This technology is said to be responsible for detecting entertainment traffic mainly for services like Hulu Plus, Netflix, YouTube and more, to accelerate these on a number of other Wi-Fi connected devices such as gaming consoles, media players, smartphones, tablets, PCs and more.
The improved entertainment experience can be attributed to the routers’ capabilities of analyzing and maximizing bandwidth for the concerned services for almost all screens. These sleek devices are designed to facilitate connection to wired as well as wireless devices and are inclusive of My Net Dashboard for customization and monitoring purposes. Moreover, they also act as a personal cloud storage service to create backup folders for all the digital content saved on different gadgets. These can be accessed from anywhere.
“With so many people within the home simultaneously watching movies, playing games and browsing the Web via their iPad, iPhone, Xbox and other devices, the network demands placed on today’s connected home has grown exponentially. Our successes in creating Connected Home solutions with our WD TV media players and personal cloud products have given us valuable insights into the network-overload problems of home wireless users, and entering the wireless home networking market offers WD an exciting opportunity to strengthen our Connected Home offerings that are aimed at enhancing the home entertainment experience for consumers,” quoted Jim Welsh, executive vice president for WD’s branded products and consumer electronics groups.
